My favorite web design is the orchid beauty. I like the picture of the flower on the top of the page, and i also like how the background color is a very light pinkish purple. I feel that it compliments the flower very well.
Good:
1. Craigslist- craigslist is a good website because it is organized very well. although there are no flashy graphics or eye catching color schemes the information is very organized and it is easy to find what you are looking for on the website. The way they bold the major categories then have the topics within that category in non bold print makes it very easy to distinguish each category from the next. It is a very simple design but it is highly efficient.
2. Espn.com- ESPN.com is a good site because it has the perfect blend of need to know and want to know on their homepage. You can customize your homepage to show scores and news from your favorite teams but there are also 5 or 6 stories that are considered top stories in the sports world. it has tabs which are easy to navigate between different sports. It also has a good blend of writing stories and video stories on their homepage so it has something for everyone.
Bad:
1. cartoonnetwork.com- this is a bad website first of just because of the name. it looks like some kind of misspelling and it is even awkward to type in, it made me not want to go to their site. once you get there, there are a million places on the homepage where you can click to play a game. but there are so many moving graphics and flashing buttons you do not know which buttons go with which game. It is very confusing to navigate.
2. weatherbug.com- this is a bad site because it is not visually appealing at all. the print is way too small and you cannot even read some it. you would have to click on the story just to be able to read any of it. it also had annoying ads popup when you first enter the website. it is not nearly as good as its weather.com counterpart.
Favorite: Paravion. I really enjoy the postcard design of this one. It makes it stand out but it also makes the content very clear and easy to read. Some of the other ones had cool designs that made the actual words hard to read or were just flat out distracting to look at. This one has a repetitive color scheme that is throughout that doesn’t take away from the actual writing. The headings are clear and are contrasted from the rest of the writing.
Least Favorite: Kelmscott. This design had a background that really hurt my eyes are was distracting from the rest of the page. The headlines are a little difficult to read with the font that they chose.

This website has a good layout in my opinion because the design is clean and concise. It uses repetition in flower pictures and contrast in the text and pictures. The color scheme used is analogous I believe or monochromatic. Overall, this site is good to look at and easy to understand.

Under the Sea! is my least favorite website design because I feel that it is too cluttered. The pictures along the bottom really bother me. However, the contrast in text on the left column is good because they used red and green text, which is complementary and good for a strong visual contrast.
My favorite design layout on Zen Garden is the Kyoto Forest layout. I like this one because it features a lot of different colors, but it doesn’t cause any sort of sensory overload. The layout is pleasant to look at, easy to navigate, and interesting. My least favorite is Sakura, which is very hard to look at with all of the bright pinks and whites. What isn’t empty white space is filled with color and lines that make it very busy and unpleasant to look at.
